When you Wait on the Lord, He sends the Best

I first saw her one fine Sunday morning at San Fernando during a fellowship! It was love at first sight though none of us knew it at that time. After the whole family walked in I asked someone "Who are they?" and they replied..."They are Purdoms." Well that was the first time I had ever heard about the "Purdom people" only to find out 2 minutes later that "Purdom" was their surname.

Emily Purdom decided to be a part of the Trinidad School of Preaching and Teaching (TSOPT) which I was currently attending. I was full-time and she was in it Part-time. Initially I gave no thought of her and we basically were strictly brother and sister in the Lord.
........Then we got to talking!

Imagine the two most talkative persons on planet earth (we didn't know at the time) joining in conversation on a daily basis. She was so educated in the word of God and everything she said was like honey dripping from a broken glass bottle of honey on the edge of a grocery shelf !
I was drawn to her and I made myself available for chat every lunch-time and soon even early in the morning before we had our Chapel services.
Lunch time became even more an exciting time as we began having lunches together ,where I would bring my local lunch and she would bring her foreign lunch and together we would mix the different tastes.

As to be expected, it didn't take long for me to be teased/troubled by my fellow classmates and even some of the teachers who we are very close to. I would deliberately deny that we were "more than friends" so that they could trouble me more (Because my intention was for her to become my girlfriend and future wife-HA! what a long shot! she was wayy out of my league and I? mere peasant.)

On March 10th '12, we both had a great day of doing evangelism work together...THAT WAS GREAT!
That very night we got to talking and I made my intentions known to her via letter. She took some time and thought about it and to my surprise , she said "let's try" (paraphrase), The rest is a history of growth and love.

Things escalated quickly and then on the 8th of November in Gulf City Mall, we both went on a lovely date and had the time of our lives. As we were about to leave (the mall was closed), I stopped to tie my shoe lace (which conveniently was loosened). I had my bag in my hand and I said "hold this"...I then got out an unexpected engagement ring and said "hold this".................The next few seconds I will never forget --> her facial expression, her one word "Seriously?" (said out of shock), her hug that soon followed, the moment on the whole.......was priceless.

I now have a beautiful Fiance' !

I love you so much Emily and I know you will be the best wife and companion that the Lord could provide for me. I prayed that God would provide a suitable help-meet, and He gave the best! Everyday is testimony that praying is powerful and essential.
She is sooo pretty (maybe a little greedy here ;) )

The following is a poem I wrote on the 11th of November for the one I love....Emily, my beautiful Fiance' :

I watched you pass by
From the distance each day
You didn't say "Hi"
As you went on your way
I saw us as friends
You gave me no heed
For strangers we were
And not more indeed!

I watched you pass by

From a few feet away
We spoke for a while
Then you went on your way
You saw us as friends
I wanted us more...
Yet just friends we were
And that chance seemed so poor

You didn't pass by

In your usual way
The place that we met
You were not there today
No more were we friends
We had long crossed that sea
I gave you a ring
And I vowed to be true
I did find you.
Now where, Emily?
I did find you-
You were right next to me.

I could spend time with her forever!

The ring looks so pretty in her hand

Wait! It's 2012 already?

...Have a Hap-Hap Happy New Year,
  With blessings and prosperity.
May you always be very happy
A Hap Happy New Year to you....

When I was much smaller my mom taught me that song and we even sang it one old years night on stage....I would sing it to you but you wont hear it anyway,as you are simply reading this far away from the sound of my voice.

The thing is, I may wish for someone to have blessings and prosperity and that they'd be very happy...but at the end of the day, one cannot just get blessings and prosperity by himself. God is the provider of such things...and God will do as He sees fit. That individual must trust in God to work out all things for good-but he must love Him who provides. I may wish for someone to be very happy...but it is entirely up to that individual to obtain this happiness....and that happiness can ONLY be found in the Lord Jesus Christ

Some may have a list of things to work on "slowly but surely"...and they may aim to get it done...sometimes on that list is the stated goal "I want to make it right...with...God" .

How far down on the list is that goal?

Sadly, the distance, for some is too late!

Here's the thing, there is only one day we are certain of..only one day....and that is ....yesterday
Yesterday because it is gone!
We are not certain about tomorrow!
Neither the rest of today!

Now ...yes only now , this has to be done. While we yet breathe, we have to make it right with God-
genuinely ............ and permanently.

                                    Happy New Year

Previously on "Best Holiday lime in the History of Best Holiday Limes".............read the previous post (Best Holiday lime in the History of Best Holiday Limes Pt. 1)

Well as I was saying , the fun was about to be doubled....as the next day, (You guessed it - the 23rd of December 2011) more of our extended family came by for another day of goodness.
Once again our wee little house was filled with the sound of much more laughter and food and Christian fellowship.
This time it was a "curry" lime!

For lunch we had curried chicken (layer),curried duck, channa (split peas) and aloo (potato),pumpkin, kutchela and buss-up-shut also known as paratha

I learnt how to use my camera in a more fun way...isn't this cool?

from this
to this

                                                           Random photo of fun

Of course the cards must come out (Note the match sticks) It's all fours alright!

An evening pic of our coconut tree (courtesy our roaming photographer,Naomi ) :)

My day was made complete with my Dad being allowed to come and spend this one day with us away from his work.He had the best December holiday ever with just this one day spent with our Christian family...ask him.

Two people I love dearly- my Mom and my Dad (My brother was there also but I don't have a pic with him in it...he's good at evading cameras )

There is much more I can say about these two days but it will be too much to write and too much for you too read in one night (or day)...What I can say is that there can never be more joy than spending time with your Christian family...in fact we will be doing this all day and all night in eternity...so might as well get used to this level of fun because it is infinity times better in Heaven.

It is evident that we serve the Greatest God...second to none...who provides for His own and ensures that they are happy. He gave His Beloved Son to die for us enabling us to live forever with Him in glory. As Rom 8:17 says "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ...." - we get to fellowship with our God and each other forever!

So, while we are here on earth, we must do everything to the glory and honor of God. In doing so, we will find favor in God's eyes and we WILL hear His warm, gentle voice say:

"Well done ,good and faithful servant.Enter into the joy of you Lord"

Once upon a time Ahem...the moment school was out, the holidays got off to a busy start. Well if I may put it this way, this is the kind of busy I would like to have every single day because the fellowship with my beloved brethren simply continued so much so that if I could have merely looked upon a falling star and wish for time to swing into reverse gear, I would have done just that.

                                        [Insert Smiley face here]

It all began on the 22nd of December 2011 when our little house in the countryside was filled with the noise of much more laughter and food and Christian fellowship. The word "fun" is such an understatement so I shall not say that we had fun, BUT, we had, (for lack of a replacement word) more than fun !

Now I will attempt to rub it in via a few pics

Our kitchen before anyone got here

Then the vehicles rolled in......with our extended family

We had some appetizers (...and remember kids, eat your fruits)

What our food looked like (of course you can't actually see the food because they are in the pots), but there were BBQ chicken,BBQ turkey, ham, stewed rabbit, geera pork, macaroni pie, corn pie and fried rice (I said that in one breath)

Of course there was sorrel juice :D

Some desserts (there were cakes too)....You should have tasted the pumpkin roll mmmmmm

Before the food was well digested the cards came out

All Fours of course!

                                                                     Rummy too...

We be Blitzin'

The day soon turned into night and still the fun (well more than fun) continued ... we played "Keep Away" or something like that with an American football and I dare say that was amazing! (I don't have any pics of that though- I was too busy tryna get the ball to take any pictures) . I guess you just hafta imagine what we did then.
The hardest part of any fun filled day is the part where goodbyes are said back and forth. That we did and soon our extended family departed to their humble abode.

                                                                    BUT

The fun was about to be doubled

                                 To Be Continued...
